The Arqus Joint Master’s Programme European Studies is a full-time master’s programme which you complete over 2 years with a total of 120 ECTS credits. It brings together the expertise and academic excellence of four partner universities (Granada, Graz, Leipzig and Vilnius) and is offered entirely in English.
The programme focuses on the relationship between Europeanization and globalization, the impact of global developments on Europe and the changing role of the continent in the new world order. It is organized as a joint programme that allows you to profit from a wide range of options in complementary focus areas and from a unique intercultural experience due to an international composition of students in the programme.
Special features of the programme:
- Different disciplinary and regional perspectives on selected topics provide you with the ability to combine insights, methods, and theories from different disciplines in independent problem solving.
- You must complete at least 30 ECTS credits under the responsibility of a partner university, whereby physical and virtual mobility can be combined.
- Joint teaching programme: Various virtual courses offer you the the possibility of academic exchange with fellow students at all universities.
- Upon successful completion of this programme, you will receive a joint degree, recognized by all partner universities.
- Accredited by the German Agency ZEvA by using the European Approach

Partner universities
The Joint Programme brings together the expertise and academic excellence of four Arqus universities (Universities of Granada, Graz, Leipzig and Vilnius) and is offered entirely in English.
University of Granada (Spain)
The University of Granada will provide specialisations in geographical perspectives; socio-economic processes and critical views of Europe; public and private approaches to climate change; conflicts, actors and scenarios of change beyond Europe; and the European approach to migration.
University of Graz (Austria)
The focus areas offered by the University of Graz are South-Eastern Europe; socio-economic development and social change; peace, migration, and climate change; and human right and diversity management.
Leipzig University (Germany)
The regional areas of specialization of Leipzig University are the relations between East and West; transnational perspectives; global conflict management; cultural representation in current European societies; and Europeanisation and globalisation.
Vilnius University (Lithuania)
The specialisations and regional focus of Vilnius University are the Northern and Eastern perspective; transnational perspectives; Eastern Europe and the global challenges; and practical skills and knowledge on Eastern Europe.
