The multilingual Joint Master's Programme in Translation is a full-time master's programme. The universities in the consortium work together to provide you with a high-quality international curriculum including regional aspects.
The programme is organised as a Joint Programme and offered by the University of Graz and the University of Ljubljana. You can choose one of them as your entrance university where you will be enrolled and the other one as your mobility university for the mandatory mobility semester.
The Joint Master’s Programme in Translation comprises 120 ECTS credits corresponding to a period of study of at least four semesters or two years. As a student of the Master’s programme you have to earn at least 60 ECTS at your entrance university (30 ECTS in courses and 30 ECTS for your Master’s Thesis) and you have to earn at least 30 ECTS at your mobility university during the integrated mobility semester as a mandatory requirement for graduation.

Admission Requirements
At the University of Graz you can be admitted to this Master's Programme, if you have completed a BA or equivalent programme in Transcultural Communication in the languages Slovene, German and English comprising at least 180 ECTS credits, or if you have completed a BA or equivalent programme in German and/or Slovene Studies and have proficiency in English (C1).
At the University of Ljubljana you need to have completed (1) a BA in Interlingual Communication (Slovene-English-German) at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts or a BA at another Slovene university; (2) passed the entrance exam in Slovene, English and German; depending on the competences acquired in the undergraduate programme and the exam results, up to 60 ECTS credits may be awarded.
Note: Admission to the Master’s Programme does not guarantee admission to the chosen entrance university, where additional local criteria may be operative.

Required language proficiency at the University of Graz
German C1 proficiency:
When choosing Graz as your entrance university and your first language is not German or you have not completed a degree in German you need to provide proof of German proficiency on the level C1 according to the CEFR. The German language knowledge can be provided by the following certificates:
- an Austrian secondary school leaving certificate (Matura) or
- an equal secondary school leaving certificate from abroad with German as language of instruction on Matura Level (Austrian or German school abroad/German Abitur) or
- completed study programme taught in German (German as the language of instruction must be officially confirmed in the Diploma Supplement) or
- Ergänzungsprüfung Deutsch (EPD)at Vorstudienlehrgang der Grazer Universitäten und Hochschulen or
- Supplementary examination in German (EPD) from another Austrian pre-study programme Vorstudienlehrgang at C1 level (C1 must be stated on the certificate) or
- ÖSD C1 (Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch) or
- Goethe-Zertifikat C1 or
- DSH2 (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang) or
- DSD2 (Deutsche Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz) or
- Telc C1 or
- Test DaF C1 (TDN 5)
The C1 certificates 6. - 11. must not be older than 2 years at the time of the application. All examinations/parts of the certificates must be passed at C1 level.
English C1 proficiency must be proven by one of the following certificates:
- TOEFL iBT (score of at least 95) or
- IELTS Academic (score of at least 7.0) or
- Cambridge Proficiency English CPE or
- Cambridge Advanced English CAE (score of at least 180/ Grade C or better) or
- Telc C1 or
- Pearson Test of English Academic PTE (score of at least 76) or
- Certificate of completion of an Austrian Vorstudienlehrgang course on English-C1 level
- A school-leaving certificate with English as the language of education (e.g., Great Britain, Ireland, America, Canada, New Zealand)
- Degree programme already completed in English as the language of education (English as the language of instruction must be officially confirmed in the Diploma Supplement)
The certificates/diplomas 1. - 6. must not be older than 2 years at the time of the application.
